You type "church near me" into your phone and a map fills up with pins. Some have a photo, some have a phone number, and many have a service time. None of them answer the only question you actually have: will this be the right one, or will you sit through another Sunday that does not fit.
Maybe you just moved for a job and do not know anyone in town yet. Maybe you stopped going years ago after something went wrong, and you are only now thinking about trying again. Maybe you grew up with no religion at all, and the idea of walking in and not knowing what to do makes you want to skip the whole thing. Maybe you already have a church, and it simply does not fit anymore, but starting the search over feels exhausting. Different starting points, same problem: a map of pins sorted by distance cannot tell you anything about what happens once you are inside the building.
So people guess. They pick the closest one, or the one with the nicest website, and go. If it is wrong, they go again the next week. And the week after that.
What a directory cannot tell you
A church directory can tell you where a building is and when the doors open. It was never built to tell you whether the preaching will make sense to you, whether your kids will have somewhere to go, or whether anyone will mind if you show up with more questions than answers.
FaithHaven starts from a different place. It asks what you believe, what kind of worship feels right, and what you are looking for in a community. Every profile also asks something a map of pins never will: whether doubts and hard questions are welcome where you go. And if you are coming back after time away, or your old church stopped fitting, it asks one more thing first: whether a church has hurt you before, so that answer can shape the list too. Then it ranks the churches near you against what you told it, instead of handing you a list sorted by nothing but how close they are.
